DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

PUSH-BTN IGN SW

(Push-button ignition switch) 		Diagnosis condition When push-button ignition switch is ON.
Signal (terminal) Engine start switch signal (Terminal 1)
Threshold Less than 8.8V or more than 16.5V
Diagnosis delay time 1 second or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Harness or connectors

    [Push-button ignition switch circuit is open or shorted]

  • BCM

  • IPDM E/R

FAIL-SAFE

DTC Confirmation Procedure

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON under the following conditions, and wait for at least 1 second:.

    • CVT selector lever is in the P (park) or N (neutral) position.

    • Release the brake pedal.

  2. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “BCM”.

  3. Check DTC.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT SIGNAL (PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH)

  1. Disconnect push-button ignition switch connector.

  2. Check voltage between push-button ignition switch harness connector and ground.

    Push-button ignition switch —

    Voltage

    (Approx.)
    Connector Terminal
    M208 8 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT SIGNAL (IPDM E/R)

Check voltage between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

IPDM E/R —

Voltage

(Approx.)
Connector Terminal
E119 38 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT (IPDM E/R)

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector and BCM connector.

  3. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and BCM harness connector.

    IPDM E/R BCM Continuity

    E119 38 M18 1 Yes

  4. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

    IPDM E/R — Continuity
    Connector Terminal
    E119 38 Ground No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connectors.

CHECK PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT SIGNAL (BCM)

Check voltage between BCM harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

GO TO 5.

CHECK PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT SIGNAL (BCM) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect BCM connector and IPDM E/R connector E119.

  3. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and ground.

    BCM — Continuity
    Connector Terminal
    M18 1 Ground No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connectors.

CHECK PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT (BCM)

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect BCM connector and IPDM E/R connector.

  3. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and push-button ignition switch harness connector.

  4. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and ground.

    BCM — Continuity

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connectors.
