PRECONDITIONING
If “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE” has been previously conducted, always place the ignition switch in the OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

GO TO 2.
DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE
CONSULT
-
Ignition switch OFF to ON.
-
Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "EPS/DAST 3".
Is DTC “C1602” detected?
YES>>
Proceed to diagnosis procedure. Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.
NO>>
To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO>>
Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.
DTC Diagnosis Procedure
CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Ignition switch OFF.
-
Check the power steering control module harness connector for disconnection or looseness.
-
Disconnect power steering control module harness connector and then check the power steering control module pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>
GO TO 2.
NO>>
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
CHECK POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT
Check continuity between power steering control module harness connector terminal and ground.

GO TO 3.
NO>>
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors, and repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

NO>>
Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

Check voltage between power steering control module harness connector terminals and ground.

Check the 10A fuse No. 46 in the IPDM E/R.

Check continuity and short between power steering control module harness connector terminal and fuse block (J/B) harness connector terminal.

Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "EPS/DAST 3".
Is DTC “C1602” detected?
YES>>
Power steering control module is malfunctioning. Replace steering oil pump assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>
Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.
