Nissan Murano: Dtc/circuit Diagnosis / B2098 Ign Relay on Circ

DTC Description

• IPDM E/R operates the ignition relay-1 when it receives an ignition switch ON signal from BCM via CAN communication.

• Turn the ignition relay-1 OFF by pressing the push-button ignition switch once when the Nissan Murano vehicle speed is 2.5 MPH (4 km/h) or less.

• Turn the ignition relay-1 OFF with the following operation when the Nissan Murano vehicle speed is more than 2.5 MPH (4 km/h) or when an abnormal condition occurs in CAN communication from the combination meter (Emergency OFF)

  • Press and hold the push-button ignition switch for 2 seconds or more.

  • Press the push-button ignition switch 3 times within 1.5 seconds.

NOTE:

The ignition relay-1 does not turn ON for 3 seconds after emergency OFF even if the push-button ignition switch is pressed.

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

Possible Cause

• IPDM E/R.

• Harness or connectors (ignition relay-1 circuit short).

FAIL-SAFE

Turns ON the tail lamp relay for 10 minutes.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

1. Ignition switch ON.

2. Ignition switch OFF and wait 1 second or more.

3. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “IPDM E/R”.

4. Check DTC.

Is DTC detected?

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

CONSULT

1. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “IPDM E/R”.

What is the display history of DTC “B2098”?

GO TO 2.

GO TO 5.

CHECK IGNITION RELAY-1 CONTROL CIRCUIT VOLTAGE 1

1. Ignition switch ON.

2. Check voltage between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

GO TO 4.

GO TO 3.

CHECK IGNITION RELAY-1 CONTROL CIRCUIT VOLTAGE 2

1. Ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector and BCM connector M19.

3. Ignition switch ON.

4. Check voltage between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK IGNITION RELAY-1 CONTROL CIRCUIT

1. Ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector.

3. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

Perform the diagnosis procedure for DTC B26F2. Refer to DTC Description.

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT

Refer to Intermittent Incident.
