Component Function Check

CHECK TAIL LAMP OPERATION

CONSULT

  1. Select “EXTERNAL LAMPS” in “Active Test” mode of “IPDM E/R”.

  2. While operating the test items, check that the tail lamp is turned ON.

    TAIL : Tail Lamp ON
    Off : Tail lamp OFF

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Tail lamp circuit is normal.

NO>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK PARKING LAMP OPERATION

Check that the parking lamp is turned ON.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

When tail lamp RH or LH does not turn ON GO TO 2.

NO>>

Check parking lamp circuit. Refer to Component Function Check.

CHECK TAIL LAMP FUSE

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check that the following fuses are not blown:

    Component Location Fuse No. Capacity
    Tail lamp RH IPDM E/R 51 10 A
    Tail lamp LH 52

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Replace the blown fuse after repairing the affected circuit.

CHECK TAIL LAMP OUTPUT VOLTAGE

CONSULT

  1. Disconnect rear combination lamp LH (body side) connector, rear combination lamp RH (body side) connector, rear combination lamp LH (back door side) connector and rear combination lamp RH (back door side) connector.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Select “EXTERNAL LAMPS” in “Active Test” mode of “IPDM E/R”.

  4. While operating the test items, check voltage between rear combination lamp LH (body side) harness connector, rear combination lamp RH (body side) harness connector, rear combination lamp LH (back door side) harness connector, rear combination lamp RH (back door side) harness connector harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK TAIL LAMP POWER SUPPLY (SHORT) CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector.

  2. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK TAIL LAMP POWER SUPPLY (OPEN) CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check continuity between rear combination lamp LH (body side) harness connector, rear combination lamp RH (body side) harness connector, rear combination lamp LH (back door side) harness connector, rear combination lamp RH (back door side) harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK TAIL LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT

Check continuity between rear combination lamp LH (body side) harness connector, rear combination lamp RH (body side) harness connector, rear combination lamp LH (back door side) harness connector, rear combination lamp RH (back door side) harness connector harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES-1>>

Rear combination lamp (body side): Replace rear combination lamp (body side). Refer to Removal and Installation.

YES-2>>

Rear combination lamp (back door side): Replace rear combination lamp (back door side). Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.
