DESCRIPTION
When the selector lever position is P or N, park/neutral position (PNP) signal from the transmission range switch is sent to ECM.
DTC DETECTION LOGIC
The signal of the park/neutral position (PNP) signal does not change during driving after the engine is started.

PRECONDITIONING
If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following before conducting the next test.
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
Turn ignition switch ON.
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

CHECK PNP SIGNAL
With CONSULT
Turn ignition switch ON.
Select “P/N POSI SW” in “DATA MONITOR” mode with CONSULT. Then check the “P/N POSI SW” signal under the following conditions.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 4.
NO>>Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
Select “DATA MONITOR” mode with CONSULT.
Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
Maintain the following conditions for at least 50 consecutive seconds.
CAUTION:
Always drive Nissan Murano vehicle at a safe speed.

YES>>Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.
NO>>INSPECTION END
PERFORM COMPONENT FUNCTION CHECK
Turn ignition switch ON.
Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals.

CHECK TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH POWER SUPPLY
Ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect transmission range switch harness connector.
Ignition switch ON.
Check the voltage between transmission range switch harness connector and ground.

CHECK TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
Ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
Check the continuity between transmission range switch harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.

YES>>Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.
NO>>Repair or replace error-detected parts.

Ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect ECM harness connector.
Check the continuity between transmission range switch harness connector and ECM harness connector.

Check the transmission range switch. Refer to Component Inspection.

YES>>INSPECTION END
NO>>There is malfunction of transmission range switch. Replace transmission range switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.
