Automatic back door open/close function does not operate properly when using motion activated back door sensor.
CHECK BATTERY
Check the vehicle battery condition. Refer to Work Flow.
Is the battery in good condition?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>Charge battery using battery and electrical diagnostic analyzer (165-DSS-5000P). For operating instructions, refer to diagnostic station instruction manual. GO TO 2.
CHECK OPERATION WITH PROPER KICK
Make sure that proper operating conditions have been met for motion-activated back door operation. Refer to System Description. Perform kick with proper form.
Is the system operational?
YES>>Instruct customer how to kick with proper form.
NO>>GO TO 3.
CHECK OPERATION OF THE AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR WITH OTHER TRIGGERS
Check if automatic back door works with Intelligent Key, back door switch, and switch on instrument panel.
Is the system operational?
YES>>GO TO 4.
NO>>Perform diagnosis for automatic back door system. Refer to Work Flow. GO TO 10.
CHECK DTC WITH AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR CONTROL MODULE
Check that DTC is not detected with automatic back door control module.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 5.
NO>>Perform trouble diagnosis relevant to DTC indicated. If DTC exists for automatic back door control module and kick sensor, address automatic back door control module DTC first.
PERFORM INITIAL SETTING AND ANOTHER PROPER KICK
Perform automatic back door initial setting. Refer to Work Procedure.
Is the system operational?
YES>>Instruct customer how to kick with proper form
NO>>GO TO 6.
CHECK Nissan Murano Vehicle EQUIPMENT
Check to see if the vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch.
Use FAST parts catalog to confirm that the correct motion activated back door control unit part number is installed for Nissan Murano vehicles equipped with/without a trailer hitch.
Is the correct motion activated back door control unit installed?
YES>>GO TO 7.
NO>>Replace motion activated back door sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation. GO TO 10.
CHECK FOR WIRING OR SENSOR DAMAGE
Remove any bumper undercover, if necessary. Clean off kick sensor assembly of dirt, dust, etc. Check entire kick sensor assembly to see if any wiring, connectors, or sensors are damaged.
Is there any issue with wiring, connectors, or sensors?
YES>>Replace damaged wiring, connector, or sensor. GO TO 8.
NO>>GO TO 8.
CHECK OUTPUT OF AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR CONTROL MODULE
Disconnect the motion activated back door control unit.
Check output voltage of the automatic back door control module.

Disconnect BCM connector and motion activated back door control unit connector.
Check continuity between BCM harness connector and motion activated back door control unit connector.
