OUTLINE

Permanent DTC is erased with MIL shutoff if the same malfunction is not detected after performing the driving pattern for MIL shutoff three times.

PERMANENT DTC ITEM

For permanent DTC items, MIL turns ON. Refer to DTC Index.

HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC

NOTE:

For permanent DTC group, refer to DTC Index.

CHECK DTC

Check DTC.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Repair malfunction(s) and erase DTC.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK PERMANENT DTC

With CONSULT

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  4. Turn ignition switch ON.

  5. Select “PERMANENT DTC STATUS” mode with CONSULT.

With GST

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  4. Turn ignition switch ON.

  5. Select Service $0A with GST.

Is any permanent DTC detected?

YES>>

Permanent DTC group A: GO TO 3.

YES>>

Permanent DTC group B: GO TO 4.

YES>>

Permanent DTC group C: GO TO 5.

YES>>

Permanent DTC group D: GO TO 6.

YES>>

Permanent DTC group E: GO TO 7.

YES>>

Permanent DTC group F: GO TO 8.

NO>>

END

HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP A)

CAUTION:

Always drive at a safe speed.

Drive the Nissan Murano vehicle according to driving pattern D. Refer to Driving Pattern.

GO TO 9.

HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP B)

CAUTION:

Always drive at a safe speed.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Start the engine.

  3. Stay P position over 10 seconds.

  4. Shift the selector lever to R position with brake pedal depressed and stay R position over 10 seconds.

  5. Shift the selector lever to N position with brake pedal depressed and stay N position over 10 seconds.

  6. Shift the selector lever to D position with brake pedal depressed and stay D position over 10 seconds.

  7. Drive the Nissan Murano vehicle according to driving pattern D. Refer to Driving Pattern.

GO TO 9.

HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP C)

CAUTION:

Always drive at a safe speed.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Start the engine.

  3. Maintain the following conditions for 30 seconds or more.

    CAUTION:

    Always drive at a safe speed.

    Accelerator pedal position : 1.2/8
    Nissan Murano Vehicle speed : 60 km/h (38 MPH) or more
  4. Drive the vehicle according to driving pattern D. Refer to Driving Pattern.

GO TO 9.

HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP D)

CAUTION:

Always drive at a safe speed.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Start the engine.

  3. Maintain the following conditions for 30 seconds or more.

    CAUTION:

    Always drive at a safe speed.

    Accelerator pedal position : 2.4/8
    Nissan Murano Vehicle speed : 80 km/h (50 MPH) or more
  4. Drive the vehicle according to driving pattern D. Refer to Driving Pattern.

GO TO 9.

HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP E)

CAUTION:

Always drive at a safe speed.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Start the engine.

  3. Maintain the following conditions for 30 seconds or more.

    CAUTION:

    Always drive at a safe speed.

    Accelerator pedal position : 2.4/8
    Nissan Murano Vehicle speed : 80 km/h (50 MPH) or more
  4. Stop the vehicle.

  5. Fully depress accelerator pedal and accelerate by reaching 80 km/h (50 MPH) or more.

    CAUTION:

    Always drive at a safe speed.

  6. Drive the Nissan Murano vehicle according to driving pattern D. Refer to Driving Pattern.

HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP F)

CAUTION:

Always drive at a safe speed.

  1. Adjust that fuel level is between 1/4 and 4/4.

  2. Move the Nissan Murano vehicle to a cool place.

    NOTE:

    Cool the vehicle in an environment of ambient air temperature less than 20°C (68°F).

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and leave the Nissan Murano vehicle for 12 hours.

    CAUTION:

    Never turn ignition switch ON during this procedure.

    NOTE:

    The Nissan Murano vehicle must be cooled with the hood open.

  4. Start the engine.

  5. Shift the selector lever to N position and let engine idle for 5 minutes or more.

  6. Drive the Nissan Murano vehicle according to driving pattern D. Refer to Driving Pattern.

GO TO 9.

CHECK PERMANENT DTC

With CONSULT

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  4. Turn ignition switch ON.

  5. Select “PERMANENT DTC STATUS” mode with CONSULT.

With GST

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  4. Turn ignition switch ON.

  5. Select Service $0A with GST.

Is any permanent DTC detected?

YES>>

GO TO 1.

NO>>

END

    DTC Description DTC DETECTION LOGIC Voltage sent to ECM from the sensor is not practical, even when some time has passed after starting the engine. Engine coolant temperature is insufficient for closed loop fuel control.
