(Brake Switch "B" Circuit High)
Diagnosis condition
  • When a deceleration G of -0.13 G or more occurs after the Nissan Murano vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h (19 MPH).

  • When the brake normal open switch (stop lamp switch) is pressed.

Signal (terminal) Brake pedal position switch
Threshold Brake pedal position switch is released until 2 seconds have passed after the Nissan Murano vehicle has stopped when the diagnosis condition is established. Malfunction is confirmed when the above condition is established 5 times.
Diagnosis delay time

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Harness or connectors

    (Brake pedal position switch circuit is close.)

  • Brake pedal position switch

FAIL-SAFE

Not applicable

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0573 is displayed with DTC P0605, first perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for DTC P0605.

Is DTC P0605 detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis for P0605. Refer to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

PRECONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TEST CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 11 V at ignition switch ON.

GO TO 3.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 2 seconds.

  2. Repeat the following step 5 times.

    1. Drive the Nissan Murano vehicle and accelerate to 48 km/h (30 MPH).

    2. Decelerate from 48 km/h (30 MPH) to 0 km/h (0 MPH) within 7 seconds.

    3. Stop the Nissan Murano vehicle for 2 seconds or more.

    CAUTION:

    Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.

    NOTE:

    This procedure may be conducted with the drive wheels lifted in the shop or by driving the Nissan Murano vehicle. If a road test is expected to be easier, it is unnecessary to lift the vehicle.

  3. Check DTC.

Is DTC P0573 detected?

YES>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0573 is displayed with DTC P0605, perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0605.

Is applicable DTC detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH CIRCUIT

With CONSULT

  1. Turn ignition switch ON.

  2. Select “BRAKE SW1” in “DATA MONITOR” mode of “ENGINE” using CONSULT.

  3. Check “BRAKE SW1” indication as per the following conditions.

    Fully released ON

Without CONSULT

  1. Turn ignition switch ON.

  2. Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals as per the following.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT

With CONSULT

  1. Select “BRAKE SW2” in “DATA MONITOR” mode of “ENGINE” using CONSULT.

  2. Check “BRAKE SW2” indication as per the following conditions.

Without CONSULT

  1. Turn ignition switch ON.

  2. Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals as per the following.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

GO TO 8.

CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect brake pedal position switch harness connector.

  3. Turn ignition switch ON.

  4. Check the voltage between brake pedal position switch harness connector and ground.

    + Voltage
    Brake pedal position switch
    Connector Terminal
    E72 1 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

GO TO 5.

CHECK FUSE-1

  1. Pull out 10A fuse (No. 29) from fuse block (J/B).

  2. Check that 10A fuse is not blowing.

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the fuse after repairing the applicable circuit.

NO>>

Perform trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.

CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect ECM harness connector.

  2. Check the continuity between brake pedal position switch harness connector and ECM harness connector.

  3. Also check harness for short to ground and to power.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 7.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning part.

CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH

Check the brake pedal position switch. Refer to Component Inspection (Brake Pedal Position Switch).

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 12.

NO>>

Replace brake pedal position switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.

  3. Check the voltage between stop lamp switch harness connector and ground.

    + Voltage
    Stop lamp switch
    Connector Terminal
    E38 1 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 10.

NO>>

GO TO 9

CHECK FUSE-2

  1. Pull out 10A fuse (No. 10) from fuse block (J/B).

  2. Check that 10A fuse is not blowing.

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the fuse after repairing the applicable circuit.

NO>>

Perform trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect ECM harness connector.

  2. Check the continuity between stop lamp switch harness connector and ECM harness connector.

  3. Also check harness for short to ground and to power.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 11.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning part.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH

Check the stop lamp switch. Refer to Component Inspection (Stop Lamp Switch).

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 12.

NO>>

Replace stop lamp switch. Refer to Exploded View.

REPLACE ECM

Replace ECM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Component Inspection (Brake Pedal Position Switch)

CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH-I

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect brake pedal position switch harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between brake pedal position switch terminals under the following conditions.

    Terminals Condition Continuity
    1 and 2 Brake pedal Fully released Existed
    Slightly depressed Not existed

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH-II

  1. Adjust brake pedal position switch installation. Refer to Adjustment.

  2. Check the continuity between brake pedal position switch terminals under the following conditions.

    Terminals Condition Continuity
    1 and 2 Brake pedal Fully released Existed
    Slightly depressed Not existed

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Replace brake pedal position switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Component Inspection (Stop Lamp Switch)

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH-I

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.

  3. Check harness continuity between stop lamp switch terminals under the following conditions.

    Terminals Condition Continuity
    1 and 2 Brake pedal Fully released Not existed
    Slightly depressed Existed

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH-II

  1. Adjust stop lamp switch installation. Refer to Adjustment.

  2. Check harness continuity between stop lamp switch terminals under the following conditions.

    Terminals Condition Continuity
    1 and 2 Brake pedal Fully released Not existed
    Slightly depressed Existed

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Replace stop lamp switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.
