Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK ECV (ELECTRICAL CONTROL VALVE) POWER SUPPLY

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect A/C compressor connector.

  3. Ignition switch ON.

  4. Check voltage between A/C compressor harness connector and ground.

    +

    Voltage

    (Approx.)
    A/C compressor
    Connector Terminal
    F4 4 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK FUSE

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check 10 A fuse [No. 29, located in fuse block (J/B)]. Refer to Terminal Arrangement.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Repair harness or connector.

NO>>

Replace the blown fuse after repairing the affected circuit.

CHECK ECV CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect A/C auto amp. connector.

  3. Check continuity between A/C compressor harness connector and A/C auto amp. harness connector.

    A/C compressor A/C auto amp. Continuity
    Connector Terminal Connector Terminal
    F4 3 M50 40 Yes

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK ECV CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT

Check continuity between A/C compressor harness connector and ground.

F4 3 Ground No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK ECV

Check ECV. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Replace A/C compressor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT

Refer to Intermittent Incident.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace A/C auto amp. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

Component Inspection

CHECK ECV (ELECTRICAL CONTROL VALVE)

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect A/C compressor connector.

  3. Check continuity between A/C compressor connector.

    A/C compressor Condition Resistance (Ω)
    Terminals Temperature: °F (°C)
    3 4 68 (20) 10.1 – 11.1

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace A/C compressor. Refer to Removal and Installation.
