REMOVAL
Drain gear oil. Refer to Draining.
Remove electric controlled coupling assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.
Remove drive pinion oil seal using oil seal remover (commercial service tool).
INSTALLATION
Install drive pinion oil seal (1) using Tool (A).

CAUTION:
Do not reuse oil seal.
When installing, do not incline oil seal.
Apply multi-purpose grease onto oil seal lips, and gear oil onto the circumference of oil seal.
Install electric controlled coupling assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.
Refill gear oil to the final drive. Refer to Refilling.
Perform inspection after installation. Refer to Inspection.

INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
Check surface for cracks, leaks, or damage.
Replace any defective parts.
Check oil level and final drive for oil leakage. Refer to Inspection.
Side Oil Seal
Driver’s side
The knee air bag is located in the knee bolster, on the driver’s and passenger’s side. All of the information, cautions and warnings in this manual apply and must be followed. The knee air bag is designed to inflate in higher severity frontal collisions, although it may inflate if the forces in another type of collision are similar to those of a higher severity frontal impact. It may not inflate in certain collisions.

Passenger’s side
