Component Function Check

DATA MONITOR

CONSULT

  1. Select “TELESCO PULSE” in “Data Monitor” mode of “AUTO DRIVE POS.”.

  2. Check that the function operates normally according to the following conditions:

Release No change

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Perform diagnosis procedure. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR SIGNAL

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Check voltage signal between driver seat control unit connector and ground with oscilloscope.

Other than above 0V or 5V

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace driver seat control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect driver seat control unit and telescopic motor.

  3. Check continuity between driver seat control unit harness connector and telescopic motor harness connector.

  4. Check continuity between driver seat control unit harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR POWER SUPPLY

  1. Connect driver seat control unit.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Check voltage between telescopic motor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect automatic drive positioner control unit.

  3. Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and telescopic motor harness connector.

  4. Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace automatic drive positioner control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect automatic drive positioner control unit.

  3. Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and telescopic motor harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace telescopic motor. Refer to Exploded View.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

    Driver’s side

    The knee air bag is located in the knee bolster, on the driver’s and passenger’s side. All of the information, cautions and warnings in this manual apply and must be followed. The knee air bag is designed to inflate in higher severity frontal collisions, although it may inflate if the forces in another type of collision are similar to those of a higher severity frontal impact. It may not inflate in certain collisions.
