PRECONDITIONING
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
Turn ignition switch ON.
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
TESTING CONDITION:
Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is between 12 - 15 V at idle.
Before performing the following procedure, check that the engine coolant temperature is −10°C (14°F) or more.

GO TO 2.
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
Start engine and let it idle for at least 5 seconds.
If engine does not start, crank engine for at least 5 seconds.
Check DTC.
Is DTC detected?
YES>>Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.
NO>>INSPECTION END
CHECK FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect Fuel pump control module harness connector.
Turn ignition switch ON.
Check the voltage between Fuel pump control module harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 4.
NO>>GO TO 2.
CHECK FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
Check the continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and Fuel pump control module harness connector.

Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 3.
NO>>Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
CHECK FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
Turn ignition switch OFF.
Check the continuity between Fuel pump control module harness connector and ground.

CHECK FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE INPUT AND OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR OPEN AND SHORT
Disconnect ECM harness connector.
Check the continuity between Fuel pump control module harness connector and ECM harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 6.
NO>>Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
CHECK FUEL PUMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
Disconnect “fuel level sensor unit” harness connector.
Check the continuity between Fuel pump control module harness connector and “fuel level sensor unit” harness connector.

CHECK FUEL PUMP
Check fuel pump. Refer to Component Inspection(Fuel Pump).
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 8.
NO>>Replace fuel pump.Refer to Removal and Installation.
CHECK FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE
Check Fuel pump control module. Refer to Component Inspection (Fuel Pump Control Module).
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 9.
NO>>Replace fuel pump.Refer to Removal and Installation.
CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
CHECK FUEL PUMP
Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect “fuel level sensor unit and fuel pump” harness connector.
Check resistance between “fuel level sensor unit and fuel pump” terminals as follows.
