Diagnosis Procedure

Engine does not start when ignition switch is pressed while carrying Intelligent Key.

NOTE:

  • Before starting diagnosis check that Nissan Murano vehicle condition is as shown in “Conditions of vehicle”, and check each symptom.

  • The engine start function, door lock function, power distribution system, and NATS-IVIS/NVIS in the Intelligent Key system are closely related to each other regarding control. The Nissan Murano vehicle security function can operate only when the door lock and power distribution system are operating normally.

SYMPTOM TABLE (BOTH INTELLIGENT KEYS HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS)

Door lock operation (remote keyless entry) Door lock operation (request switch) or back door open operation (opener switch of back door panel) Engine started with push-button ignition switch operation (registered Intelligent Key is within the detection area of inside key antenna) Engine started with push-button ignition switch operation (registered Intelligent Key placed next to push-button ignition switch)
OK OK No crank, No start OK

CONDITIONS OF VEHICLE (OPERATING CONDITIONS)

  • “ENGINE START BY I-KEY” setting in “Work support” mode of “BCM(INTELLIGENT KEY)” is ON.

  • One or more Intelligent Keys with a registered Intelligent Key ID are in the Nissan Murano vehicle.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

CHECK INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM SYMPTOM TABLE

Check Intelligent Key system symptom table.

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

GO TO 2.

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT

CONSULT

Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “BCM”, and check if DTC is detected.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for the detected DTC.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK “ENGINE START BY I-KEY” SETTING IN “WORK SUPPORT”

CONSULT

  1. Select “ENGINE START BY I-KEY” in “Work support” mode of “BCM(INTELLIGENT KEY)”.

  2. Check “ENGINE START BY I-KEY” in “Work support”.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Set “On” in “ENGINE START BY I-KEY”.

CHECK INSIDE KEY ANTENNA

Use SIGNAL TECH II to check each inside key antenna. For the inspection method and how to use SIGNAL TECH II, refer to “NISSAN/INFINITI SIGNAL TECH II USER GUIDE”.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

REPLACE BCM

  1. Replace BCM.

  2. Check operation after replacement.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Check intermittent incident.

    Engine Can Not Start
