CONSULT screen terms (Trouble diagnosis content) |
DTC detection condition | |
| P2118 |
ETC MOT-B1 (Throttle actuator control motor current range/performance) |
Diagnosis condition | Start engine and let it idle |
| Signal (terminal) | Throttle control motor circuit | ||
| Threshold | ECM detects short in both circuits between ECM and throttle control motor | ||
| Diagnosis delay time | — | ||
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Harness or connectors
(Throttle control motor circuit is shorted.)
Electric throttle control actuator
(Throttle control motor)
FAIL-SAFE
| Engine operating condition in fail-safe mode | ||
|---|---|---|
| Fail safe mode | Nissan Murano Vehicle behavior | |
| Throttle control motor | ECM stops the electric throttle control actuator control, throttle valve is maintained at a fixed opening (approx. 5 degrees) by the return spring. | |
PRECONDITIONING
If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following before conducting the next test.
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
Turn ignition switch ON.
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
>>
GO TO 2.
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 2 seconds.
Start engine and let it idle for 5 seconds.
Check DTC.
Is DTC detected?
YES>>Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.
NO>>To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO>>Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END
CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR OUTPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector.
Disconnect ECM harness connector.
Check the continuity between electric throttle control actuator harness connector and ECM harness connector.
| Electric throttle control actuator | ECM | Continuity | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Connector | Terminal | Connector | Terminal | |
| F50 | 1 | F78 | 1 | Not existed |
| 3 | Existed | |||
| 2 | 1 | Existed | ||
| 3 | Not existed | |||
Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR
Check throttle control motor. Refer to Component Inspection.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>INSPECTION END
NO>>Replace electric throttle control actuator. Refer to Removal and Installation.
CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR
Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector.
Check resistance between electric throttle control actuator terminals as per the following.
| Terminals | Resistance |
|---|---|
| 1 and 2 | Approx. 1 - 15 Ω [at 25°C (77°F)] |
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>INSPECTION END
NO>>Replace electric throttle control actuator. Refer to Removal and Installation.
